Building Engines Clients Win 2014 Toby Awards

BOMA International lauded the performance of fourteen commercial properties by presenting them with The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) awards on June 24th in Orlando, FL during the 2014 Every Building Conference and Expo. The award recognizes excellence in community impact, tenant/employee relations, emergency evacuation procedures, accessibility for disabled persons, energy management systems, building personnel education and training programs, and overall quality indicators.

“Every Opportunity to Succeed” was the theme for this year’s TOBY Awards, challenging property owners, managers, and partners to optimize property performance through technology.

Properties managed by Cassidy Turley, CBRE, Equity Office, Hines, Lincoln Property Company, as well as several others, took home the International TOBY trophies, accompanied by 72 regional winners. (You can view the complete list of winners here.)

• Chevy Chase Pavilion, Washington, D.C. (pictured above l.)

Award Category: Renovated Building – Middle Atlantic Region Winner

The Chevy Chase Pavilion is located in a bustling commercial area in Chevy Chase Pavilion and is a “Class A” mixed-use project comprised of a 198-room Embassy Suites Hotel; 155,305 rentable square feet of retail space; and a nine-story, 204,621-square-foot office tower. The project is located in a thriving commercial and retail area, with excellent exposure at a highly trafficked intersection. Extensive renovations began in 2010 and continued in 2012 on the properties three-level parking garage and the three-level retail atrium. As part of the atrium renovation, common areas were redefined with the new construction, resulting in new retail tenants that were added to the roster.

Award Category: 250,000 to 499,999 Square Feet – Pacific Northwest Region Winner

Key Center is a 22-story, “Class A+” office building, consisting of 488,470 rentable square feet of space. Located just across the street from the primary Bellevue bus hub, tenants have multiple transportation options. The building lobby is split between two levels: a main entrance lobby and a lower atrium. High ceilings are illuminated with indirect lighting fixtures, and walls display wood grain features from the floor to ceiling. The result is a welcoming and expansive setting for building tenants and visitors. A wide variety of retail options are adjacent to the lobby.
